Brandon Lee Hoffman
Hello! My name is Brandon and I am a GIS analyst with a passion for leveraging geospatial technology to unravel complex challenges. As a Summa Cum Laude graduate from California State University, Northridge, where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in geography, I have consistently pursued excellence in my academic and professional endeavors.
Over the course of 3 1/2 years at CSUN’s Center for Geospatial Science and Technology, I had the opportunity to work on many diverse projects for organizations such as the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and the United States Forest Service (USFS), among others. These experiences helped to hone my skills as a GIS analyst, enabling me to take on a wide array of challenges with precision and creativity.
I possess a deep understanding of industry-standard geospatial software such as Esri ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro as well as a solid foundation for the leading open-source alternative, Quantum GIS (QGIS). Additionally, I have experience in Python, Excel, and SQL, which enables me to tailor custom solutions to meet specific project requirements. From organizing and cleaning datasets to conducting complex analyses, I thrive on transforming raw information into valuable insights.
Beyond my technical expertise, the joy that I find in problem-solving drives me to approach each challenge with a creative and open-minded perspective. I am also adept at technical writing, creating workflows, and proofreading. The meticulous manner in which I perform these tasks ensures that any reports or documentation I produce are clear, concise, and impactful.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I enjoy exploring the wonders of the natural world and the great outdoors. My senior capstone project, which delved into mountain lion habitat fragmentation in the Los Angeles area, was just one of the ways that my academic background in geography intersects with my love for the physical world around us.
Thank you for visiting! Whether you’re looking for help on a specific project or searching for a dedicated GIS analyst to be part of your team, I’d be thrilled to collaborate with you!
